The Banter Begins

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, it's so weird. I know. We're finally back in the podcast. Okay, so really quick, as you all are very well aware of, I am deeply rooted in my love to the Morbid podcast. Okay, so they have Nicholas. And when I was abroad, I was like, fuck it. Let's see if there's a ghost in my house. Um, so we turned him on before we started We turned him on before we started recording. So you missed it, but he introduced himself as Eric, and then he said, the he said devil, and then he said, I'm suffering. And then I had asked like some questions. He said he lived here. And I was like, how is that possible? Because so this house was built in the 90s, it's not that old. And um, everybody who has one like the original builder, that couple's still alive, the person that bought it the house after, they're still alive because we bought the house off of them, and then we're alive. So I'm like, so where exactly did you live? And yeah, you'll hear him, he's chiming in. We're gonna do our tarot reading, and I just thought, like, let's read Eric's tarot. Yep. And then we can dive in because we're so behind.

Welcome Back... Again...

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome back to Cozy Midnight Collective.

SPEAKER_01

I'm Morgan. And I'm Lauren. Today the renovation is over, and the truth is finally out. We are at the finale of Play Nice by Rachel Harrison.

SPEAKER_02

Cleo Barnes started this journey trying to flip her trauma for profit. She ended up fighting for her life on TikTok live.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

While her sisters finally dropped the ad. Oh boy.

SPEAKER_01

From gouged eyes to the gifts left for a demon, this ending is anything but nice. We're breaking down the attic, reveal, and the final verdict.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. The house has a buyer, but do we ever really leave Edgewood? Let's find out.

SPEAKER_01

That ending is quite wild.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. But it was like, it was not where where I was expecting it to go. And I was not expecting the sister to be like, yeah, but did you have to like?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm a little pissed off at Lita for sure. Cause I know. We'll get in there. Yeah. So But before that, uh, we're gonna do our final draw of this book, and we need to see the energy of the escape. So do you so we kind of toss around, like you said, drawing for Eric. Do we want to do Eric first? Sure. I'm just reading.

SPEAKER_02

Grandfather. Oh, maybe the homeowner had a grandpa that passed, maybe? Maybe it's his dad. Because or no, his because he's probably in his I'm living here now, Eric, and as long as you don't fuck with me and mine, I won't fuck with you and yours. And you can come on the podcast because it's gonna be fun. And we like spooky shit. But like spooky safe. Respectfully spooky. Yeah, respectfully spooky. Cozy spooky is our vibe, okay? Um, okay, so I was just reading.

SPEAKER_00

What did the fuck you gonna say?

SPEAKER_02

Bring it to me. I'll bring you the respect. I will be respectful.

The Midnight Draw

SPEAKER_02

Dude, I'm gonna shit Bricks when I look up. I'm gonna like have to read because so our neighbor down there, Gary, he's still best friends with the man who built this house. I will ask Gary if there's a fucking Eric. Ask Gary. Yeah. He's like, oh yeah, Eric. Oh. Dude, if we had confirmation, I would lose my shit. You wanna go first, Eric? Just tell me how many cards you want drawn, buddy. You're not from like Washington, or you're not from like this world. Were you a human before? You said you you said grandpa, and you said you used to live here. So I'm gonna need you to elaborate on that. This is for Eric. There's nothing sadder than like when you start to really use cards and they like bend. Start to bend and you're like, but like they're meant to be used, so. Just waiting to see if Eric's gonna say anything else. I know. Tell me when to stop. Can you imagine? Alright, I'm gonna pick for you if you don't pick soon. I think it should be either like one or three, right?

SPEAKER_01

I think let's do one for him. Let's do one for her. Okay. He's still new for him.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, well, I shuffled so you get to pull his card.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, Eric.

SPEAKER_02

Good energy, please. This is your choice. You use her fingers, okay? Okay, okay. You wanna read it? Yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_01

So you got an upright seven of swords. Upright seven of swords for Eric. Ooh. Is it good? I opened up right. Well, I just happened to open up. Alright, so upright seven of swords. Strategy or caution is required. Be mindful of hidden factors. Well, apparently his hidden factor is the devil. So there's that.

SPEAKER_02

Proceed with caution. The devil's not welcome in my home. No. I will not be suffering here anymore, please. Okay, do you want to go next? Sure. Okay. You shuffle then. I don't know why I'd like to put those away. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, Eric, you're real quiet. I know now that I've said it. You're not supposed to say that in like healthcare. Um Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I was never that superstitious. And a lot of what? You're foolish. Look, I'm not trying to antagonize you, but.

SPEAKER_01

Not gonna lie, my black senses are tingling.

SPEAKER_02

You're black?

SPEAKER_01

My black senses are tingling, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, because you're black. I was like, black senses. And then I'm like, oh wait, like yeah.

SPEAKER_01

My black senses are tingling.

SPEAKER_02

What are they telling you?

SPEAKER_01

Everything's a chill before we turn them off.

SPEAKER_02

That's true. Is there anybody else here? Odin? You wanna come through for mama? Odin! It's summertime and I've been seeing all them white butterflies. Okay, Six of Swords. Oh cheesy. I don't know what I meant to say, but it wasn't cheesy. Okay, so this is upright. Transition and movement towards Well then relax. Transition and movement toward calmer waters are occurring. Progress is evident.

SPEAKER_01

Yay. I like that.

SPEAKER_02

I like that too. My energy feels like so shifted too. Do you feel my energy is like calmer and less disoriented?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you do seem like you you're just like rested. You're well rested and everything.

SPEAKER_02

Like I like I feel like I can think clearly again. And it's like, okay, not everything needs to be like some fucking stress ball. Like it'll be fucking fine. Anyways, I kept telling myself that before I left, but I just like wasn't living it. I didn't feel it. Thank you till you make it. Okay, so upright nine of cups. Emotional satisfaction and contentment are present. Celebrate your achievements. Alina, do you want to help? Um, I literally was like, okay, if she ever shares something, I I would be like, ask her and Ashley, will you guys tell us how you got people to write in to your listener tales?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think that's like our number one struggle is like we don't have anyone writing in to anything.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and like we can come up with stuff or we can search like Reddit for stuff, but it just seems I'd much rather have it be sent in to us. Like so it's like exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, anyways, King of Wands upside down. Impulsiveness the impulsiveness may create instability. Slow down and plan your next move carefully. Okay. Those were really good cards. I liked that. I love that. Alright, so upside down, queen of swords, right side up, six of cups. Isn't that what you got? I don't remember anything that there was.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it was six of wands, and then thou hast get fucked.

SPEAKER_02

You they kill me. You need to pick up your morbid tarot.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so upside down, Queen of Swords. Bitterness or coldness may affect judgment. Balance intellect with empathy.

SPEAKER_02

Wait, one more time.

SPEAKER_01

Balance intellect intellect with empathy.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And then right side up, Six of Cups. That was upside down, right? Mm-hmm. Okay. Uh nostalgia and kindness bring comfort. Cherish positive memories while staying present. The tower upright. Brace yourself. The tower foretells of great and shocking change. Your entire world will be rocked, your beliefs will be shaken, and your relationships will either end or become radically different. This is the card of chaos and destruction, but don't lose hope. This is a necessary change. Your rock bottom will become the solid foundation you need to rebuild. I feel like I just went through that. I'm gonna say like good luck.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'm like, um yeah. I um a little scary. I have hit rock bottom so many times. Each time I get up, but it's a little bit slower because of my age.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, well, let's get into it with that.

SPEAKER_02

It's warm.

SPEAKER_01

It's summer. Can it be summertime? Yeah. For those of you who are new here. Um, or yeah, keeping track, new whatever. Uh, you know, we we tried. We tried to have this all out before um Morgan left and just we failed. It was hard. Life is hard. There was a lot that we got done, there was a lot that we weren't able to get done, and it just it is what it is. So, first of all, thank you for being patient for waiting a few weeks for this last part to come out. And yeah, we're really excited to wrap up this book. We love this book.

SPEAKER_02

This book is so good.

SPEAKER_01

It was so good. The I would read it again. Yeah. I definitely want to pick up more books from Rachel Harrison. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So this book gave us She's the only author so far that hasn't really like interacted with us that well. I'm sorry that we can't understand.

SPEAKER_01

But anyways, yeah, go ahead. But yeah, it's really good. Uh loved it. I can't wait to give you our rating at the end of the episode. And yeah, so I guess part four of

The Intervention & the Betrayal

SPEAKER_01

this book. Where we left off, there was some family strife. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Between everybody. Yeah. Everybody it's pretty much everybody pitted against Cleo.

SPEAKER_01

Cleo. Cleo is going through it right now. She's You're welcome to she's like, she's really going through it. The house, the stuff that's happening at the house is just increasing activity. Her home life, like, well, her apartment is ablaze. Stops, yeah, caught on fire. Um, so she's homeless except for back at Edgewood. The house. Or sometimes she'll like she was kind of couch surfing at um different friends' house. Or she could hang out with Austin, but she's kind of like self-sabotaging that relationship. Yeah. Which frustrates me because I'm like, Austin is a great dude. Yeah. He's cute, sweet, kind, apparently really good in bed. Why are we making this up? What's going on with that? But again, she did have like a pretty shitty example of love growing up. Her and her sister's dead. Um, speaking of sisters, uh Leah, the eldest, accused her, well didn't accuse, but said that she was um sociopath and that she's not normal. She's got all this like shit going on. So they had like a tense lunch. In the book, we kind of wrapped up with her mom's book, a really shitty exorcism. It went terribly. Oh, yeah, because we talked about okay, so yeah, because we jumped into that.

SPEAKER_02

That episode's out, right? Yeah, it is posted. Okay, yeah, so you guys can hear all about that. It was wildly insane, and Cleo was creepy as fuck. Yeah, as a seven-year-old little girl. And yeah, we have we have seven-year-olds, and so that are all right. I'm like trying to picture them, and I'd be like, no, no, no, no, no. Your bags have been packed and they're outside.

SPEAKER_01

My brother-in-law Ben, when he uh was living with us, he would be on the couch like watching TV late at night, and Whitney would, when she was a little bit younger, she would come running through the house, and she has like a nightgown on, and so like in the middle of the night, she would come.

SPEAKER_00

Oh fuck, that scared me.

SPEAKER_01

Watching you. I'm watching you, Eric. So she would come running through the house, and Ben would be like, you would just see like just like this little pale figure just running through the house in like a little nightgown, and he's like, Yep, that's terrifying. And yeah, or she would like run forward and back, like just like in the middle of the night, and then she's awake or sleepwalking? She is awake, she's just like running from like she'd wake up in the middle of the night and then she'd come get in bed with us. Oh, but then she'd just like in like the darkness, and he's like, out of the corner of your eye, you just see like a phyping. And he said it was terrifying. So he's like, Yeah, kids are creepy, but kids are creepy, so but so yeah, she's she's just not in a good place right now. Um, her family again, like they all are looking at her like she's she just feels betrayed.

SPEAKER_02

She just feels like and she feels like okay, if it wasn't for me being back and that okay, go ahead. Okay, Eric. I'm gonna try you off, buddy, if you keep it up. This is your third and final warning. I should be here. I've been here for two and a half years. I'm not going anywhere. You can get the fuck out of my house if you wanna talk crazy. Yeah, it's creeping me out that this keeps moving, but my chair's on it, and so I had to. Anyways, but um, yeah, because she's like, Oh, like now all of a sudden I'm crazy just because I'm like taking on this renovation and I'm in the house. But like before you would have believed me. Yeah, but now all of a sudden I have all of mom's tendencies and I'm going down mom's rabbit hole, and it's it's all just because like I'm in this house now. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like she also found out that like part of the reason why her father had gotten uh sole custody of all three of the girls was because there was allegedly, yeah, allegedly there's this incident where she got burned where Cleo herself got burned, and then we came to find out in the last part that we came, we found out in the last part that Cleo was possessed by the demon as a child and she was burning herself. Yeah. And her sisters knew it. Knew and in league with their father. So did their father knew that he had older girls, which even still is really shitty because they're kids, right? Even though they don't don't bring your kids into a metals, like yeah, even though they lied, that father put his children in a really shitty position, yeah, and they shouldn't have been put in that position, but they lied, said that it was they saw Alexandra burning Clio, yeah, and that was not the case at all. Yeah, she's pissed, she's pissed off at her family, and so fucked up. This is

The Social Media Possession & the Attic

SPEAKER_01

where shit hits the like, I mean, shit has been hitting the fan, but this is where it gets pretty wild. So, first of all, her father wanted her to come stay with him. I well, there was a situation that happened because she has two public social media incidents that happen on two separate occasions because there's one where she it's like she gets possessed by this demon, right? And she has she doesn't remember anything that happened.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but she's like on a live yeah, Instagram Live or something like that.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, she's it's so first it's Instagram live, or no, she took a picture on her stories.

SPEAKER_02

Move quickly.

SPEAKER_01

She had she had taken a picture on her stories, so she had to go back to the house, do some work on it. The house is like she knows that it's there, she can feel it watching her, she feels weird, she feels like just icky, but there's really nothing she can do, and the only way she knows how to deal with it is by drinking. So she she drinks, and then she kind of comes to a little bit of liquid courage. Yeah, her phone is like blowing up, right? And remember, she's an influencer, so her whole image is just like artsy and cute, fashion. She's a fashion, she's fashion influencer, yeah. Like vintage fashion type thing. So she's just like this very cute girl, you know? And she's she's like kind of figuring out that like on her stories, she posted like her liquor, and like she went and bought cigarettes. She went and bought cigarettes, a lighter, a hot pink lighter, which is kind of symbolic for their families that their mom used a hot pink lighter. She also the same lighter her mom was burning her with. Yeah, and you know, there's just like she took a picture, like just messy, blurry, like just controversial picture was just like liquor and cigarettes, and like it's just like it's not her, it's not her brand, right? And so she's kind of like, well, fuck. Um kind of fucked. And so uh Austin had seen the story and he came over to check on her. Yeah. And Cleo lashed out at him, said some really cruel things. We we knew that his his father had passed away, and he um like she just like she lashed out of him about his like jewelry being his chain because he had a chain on. Yeah, and she's like, just something so fucking picked. She said some fucked up shit, and then as he's leaving, he's like, Well, this chain belonged to my father. So he was very calm, he handled that like a like a gentleman. A gentleman. Yeah, she was she was a bitch, she was totally rude, yeah, to this poor sweet guy. He just came over to check on her, make sure that she was okay. And so she yeah, so she kind of ended that, but he does come back, which is nice. So he he does come back at the end, and don't worry, yeah, we'll get there. We'll get there. But and I'm kind of like, Clio, you dumb ups. Yeah, so awesome. But she goes back to the house.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, she immediately was like, Oh my god, I'm bitch.

SPEAKER_01

She did like acknowledge, like, yeah, that was really shitty of me to I did not need to do all that. Yeah, but yeah, she goes back in the house, her dad's like, I'm coming to get you, you're gonna come stay with me. Like, we're all worried about you. Yeah. So he comes to pick her up. She's just a mess. Oh, and the other thing too is like it looks like she harmed herself. So she's got I don't remember, I believe it was burns or cuts or something like that on her body, and so her family is like worried about her because she she said that she burned herself. Yeah, she burned herself.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah. And so she's like, you didn't she did burn herself, didn't she?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but she didn't but she doesn't remember.

SPEAKER_02

She didn't remember and she didn't feel it.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, she It was like she was p she was possessed. Yeah. And she doesn't remember posting that picture her stories either. So so yeah, so she gets her dad comes to pick her up. She's staying at the house, she's kind of sleeping in, she's just kind of like she's really spiraling at this point. Like she's seriously going through it. And her dad is like, We're going to group therapy. Yeah. Me, like your sisters. Going to group therapy, you have no choice. We are all going. And she's kind of like, okay, I'll play the part, we'll get this done. I just need to finish this house and I need to be I need to be done with it. But in between going to therapy, a couple things happen. So at one point she goes into her dad's office again, is on the computer, and sees all these searches on her dad's computer where it's like how to commit someone against their will, pretty much. Like, what are the signs of a sociopath? What are the signs that somebody's gonna kill themselves or hurt themselves? And so all addictions, yeah, addiction, alcoholism, like all these things.

SPEAKER_02

So there inpatient facilities, yeah, rehabs, all like literally all the things.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and she's literally like, what the fuck, dude? You can't even talk to me. Like, talk to me, like don't have me involuntarily committed. Yeah, that's gonna piss me off. And so she's kind of got that brewing in her head, and she's like, Great, so that's coming. That's coming, and she's like, I bet that's what this stupid family therapy thing is all about. And so, again, the stuff with the house, like at this point, like her burn is like starting to bubble up and it's like all gross and stuff, and so she decides to call who she thinks is the one person that can help with all of this, and that is Roy. So she's literally in the backyard, like they're getting ready to go. She's kind of running late because she took her time getting ready, and like she's just kind of fucking around, and she's on the phone with him, and she's like, Look, I need your help. I need your help. And she could she does say because she feels like Roy kind of took advantage of her mom. Like, she does think that he loved her, but he also thinks that she also thinks that he exploited her. Yeah. And the haunting, because she's like, Why wasn't this house sold? Why did she go back? Why was she still drinking? Like, if he cared about her, like none of these things would have been an issue. And he does tell her, he's like, he says, like, your mom and I did get into an argument. Like, she because she's like, Well, where were you? Like, how did she die in that house? And he says, like, we did get into an argument, we did, like, you know, we weren't perfect. We had our we had our issues, and he tells her, like, we had an argument, she left, I didn't know where she was, and it wasn't until it was too late, you know. So he says, Okay, she kind of tells him, like, look, there's some shit going on, all right. I believe you, I believe all of it. You need to help me. We need to get rid of this.

SPEAKER_02

And so he says, Okay, I'll like people literally are coming for me. Yeah, they don't believe me. I need you to help. Yeah. Before I get committed, like, yeah. I need people to believe me and to also get rid of this thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, she tells them I'll meet you at the house. Yeah. Right? Like, don't tell anyone else. This is just you and me. We're gonna figure it out. And she said in like an hour, right?

SPEAKER_02

She was like, give me an hour, I'll be there right after. Yeah. So, because this is when everything. So they go to therapy.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

And therapy just goes swimmingly.

SPEAKER_01

Everybody gets along and makes the mends, you guys, and then the book's over. At first, it is kind of it's kind of funny how she does it too, because she goes in and she's like, I know that this is pretty they're all gonna gang up on me. Like, I know that they're literally, it's gonna be me versus them. And so she kind of has this idea that like, oh, like, doctor's gonna like be on their side, like she like she's just this is stupid, but let's just get through it so I can go. And they get in there, everybody introduces themselves, and again, Lita is like that just kind of like the bitchy older sister, where she's just like, It's my way or the highway, I'm always right, you guys are always wrong.

SPEAKER_02

And she why does everybody have it so much easier than me?

SPEAKER_01

Why do you guys just not see the way it's yeah, she's like typical, and she kind of like reiterates again, I think she's got issues, she's a sociopath, like we're very worried about her. Daphne is kind of like just trying to play both sides where she's like, Look, I see where you're coming from, but I also see where you're coming from. But we do this is a problem, Cleo. Yeah, there's something wrong with you, but I love you, you know. Lead is just kind of like just trying to be right, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, dad is just dad is just he's like throwing him like temper tantrum almost like that he doesn't have the control over the kids.

SPEAKER_01

He's just weird about all of it. And he does kind of make a revelation, which we'll get to in just a second, but like he I've never been a fan of him. No, and I and I will say throughout all of this, I thought that he like to like up until this point, I thought that he was behind at least some of it.

SPEAKER_02

Always I thought because I'm like, there's always something if there's one parent that's always trying to just degrade and demean, and it's like you know, I don't understand it. Like you once loved, married, and had three children with this woman. What happened? What did what did you do?

SPEAKER_01

My main question too is like like I get you didn't want Cleo to read the book, right? So one, how did you get the last like the back half of the book for one? How did you get that? I think he went to the house. So, but even then, like, why would you leave the front half?

SPEAKER_02

Because maybe the I think the demon. I'm eternal. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I don't understand how he like one, if you didn't want to read it, just why didn't you just take the whole fucking?

SPEAKER_02

Maybe it wasn't it obviously wasn't available.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Because remember when she finds all of its treasures up in the attic? Yeah. So this is my place.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so it just like there's just like a ton of questions in my mind, and I'm just like, you make it look like you're guilty for sure. Like you have, maybe it's not your fault that the demon was there.

SPEAKER_02

Or did he rip the book in half and leave half of it there to like cause strife drama?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. So anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Did he it's so weird because it's like he hates her too.

SPEAKER_01

Well, yeah. So he does say something like that. So like he I mean, the way it went, like, and and so throughout all of therapy, she's she's like getting phone calls. Like phone calls, like back-to-back phone calls.

SPEAKER_02

No, it was Roy.

SPEAKER_01

It was Roy, but she's like, I can't answer this right now. Like, and then there's a point where she she kind of like plays up like the younger sibling where she like she starts like, My family, I just don't understand why. Yeah, she's like, I'm trying to get through this. Let's go. Okay, turn on the water wall. And they're like, oh my god. And like even Daphne's like, oh my god, Cleo, are you are you serious right now? Yeah. And so she kind of like kind of gets the therapist on her side, kind of doesn't, and then there's a point where she just like, you know what? Fuck this. Fuck you guys. I'm out. I'm leaving. Yeah. But she wrote with her dad. So they all drive back to his house, and they're kind of like, What the fuck is wrong with you? You're drinking, you're smoking. Well, she brought that up in therapy. She's like, she brought up the computer search. Yeah, she did, yeah, that's right. And she was like, she's like, You guys can't commit me against my will. Like, what is wrong with you?

SPEAKER_02

I mean, you can, but you have to be homicidal or suicidal.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, but that was her thing was she was like, What is wrong with you guys? Like, you can't do this to me. Like, yeah, yeah, they can, but she's like, It's me, you know, and she's betrayed, she feels betrayed, they're like, there's something fucking wrong with you, and then there's a point where her dad blows up. Like the whole facade of just like, I care about you, you're my baby girl, everything's for you. All of that just goes away. And there's a point where he was like, he basically does say, like, I love you, but I also can't fucking stand you because you are just like her. Yeah. I see it when I look at you, yeah. I see it in the way that you act. Everything about you is just like her, and I hate it. And I hate it, and sometimes I hate you pretty much. And Cleo's like, whoa. And even like the sisters are like, whoa, what the fuck? And and then like he does admit, like, yeah, I cheated on your fucking mom. I don't fucking love her.

SPEAKER_02

I was he will touch you, he will not touch me, Eric.

SPEAKER_01

But he um You're being weird, Eric.

SPEAKER_02

Stop being fucking weird.

SPEAKER_01

He basically is like, he's like, I uh yeah, I cheated on your fucking mom. I hated her. I was miserable. You don't know what it was like to be to live with her towards the end. Like it was horrible. Was it in Edgewood too?

SPEAKER_02

Was he at Edgewood? No, he wasn't. They split up and then that's what she bought. So what is it? I wish I had hindsight.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Like I want like a prequel book to this about their what happened.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Why does he hate her so much? What was she like? You know?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I I'm curious as to like one, why all of that, and then I also want to hear like the actual haunting stuff from Alexandra's words, not the embellished book. I want to hear like the divorce, moving into the house, and then her life in between when she moved out of the house and when she died. Like why she went back. Yeah. Well, sh we know I know why she went back. Yeah. Right. But I'm also like, okay, but why did it at the end? What why did it kill her? Yeah like why then? Yeah, I want to know what her relationship was. It wanted Cleo Roy. Yeah. I mean, yeah, that that's fair. That's probably like the only way that they wanted them both to get hurt. But yeah, so like I would love to have like just that. Like I want I want details on the divorce. I want details on like and I kind of want it from his side too, I guess. Just because I'm curious to know like what his what's the word? Um like how he excuses the behavior. Like how he thinks, like, okay, yeah, like this, she did this, so I'm gonna fuck somebody else that's younger than me. Like, okay, I want to know why you thought that that was a good thing to do. But so yeah, he he based that like that's that there's that revelation again. She's still getting just like just constant calls from Roy. And she's like, dude, I can't help you. Yeah, like I can't I can't do anything for you right now. So she's like, I told you I would meet you there. Yeah, so she packs her bags and she's like, Yep, I'm gonna go. Um, she I'm gonna go. I'm not crazy. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You guys suck. Fuck you guys. And I'm gonna go weirdly hang out with the only person that literally I never thought I would hang out with, but I know will 100% believe me and knows that I'm not fucking insane.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And that's Roy. And so she goes to Edgewood.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, she goes to Edgewood and right off the rip she goes, she's like, Where the fuck is Roy? Where's Roy? His car is there. She sees his car. It's silent, like eerily quiet in the house. Yeah, yeah. She's like walking around. She cannot find him anywhere. Yeah, trying to figure out what's going on. She's like, Okay, dude, like, what are you doing here? Like, what where are you? She goes. And then she's trying to call him, right? She tries to call him.

SPEAKER_02

She ends up trying to call him.

SPEAKER_01

Are you agreeing?

SPEAKER_02

He said, Yeah. Yeah, she did try to call him.

SPEAKER_01

Um, yeah. Tries to call him, can't find him anywhere. And yeah, so she's like kind of walking around. Again, she's got it, she's got her phone out. And so there's a period of time in between Roy, like like her looking for Roy, and then she pulls out her phone at some point, and then like she goes on like TikTok live. And this is where Yes. She goes on TikTok live.

SPEAKER_02

She she did that on purpose, right? This she was aware of.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, because I think she was trying to figure out like, yeah, she's trying to she thought that Roy was fucking with her, I think, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_02

I I think it was like a safety thing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, that's true, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, because she's she's trying to prove like this is what's going on.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, she's terrified.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, nobody else is there with her, she can't find Roy, and she's like basically wants to show, probably mostly just for her family, not like really for her followers, but like, this is what's going on, I'm not fucking crazy, and if something happens to me, here it is.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, right? Yeah, no. So she goes in and she she goes on TikTok live, but then what ends up happening on TikTok TikTok live is not as simple as just like telling the world what's going on, right? Something so there's a period of time where I think she again kind of blacks out, and then she like Well, it's like the house, like or the demon or the energy, or maybe all of the above.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it fucks with like all of her senses.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And so I guess she did some pretty scary stuff on TikTok live. And so her sisters had seen this. And so it like Unbeknownst to her, they're on their way. Yeah. So right before they show up, she's like, she's like, okay, she hears I think she hears something up in the attic in her room. Well, she's yeah, she's searching for Roy. So she goes into her room, she's going to go climb up. And the house is trying to like keep her out of the attic, right? Yeah, I think so, yeah. And then she ends up like and like fractures her nose.

SPEAKER_02

Like her nose is like oh yes, like pouring blood everywhere. And then mess. Yeah. And then there's laughing, right? Doesn't it start laughing again? Yeah, a little like what happened with her mom. Her mom.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. When her mom fell out. She's laughing at her and she's like, what her sisters, she like goes out into she's in the kitchen at this point, I think, because her sisters find her and she's like leaned up against the fridge, and she's like trying to like stop the bleeding. And they're like, bro, what the fuck? She's like, what are you guys doing here?

SPEAKER_02

It is so strange. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And they're like, she's like, they're like, what the fuck is wrong with you? Like you're on TikTok live. Like Daphne is so nice enough to like grab her phone and like end it for a while. She like ends the TikTok live, and then she's like, they're like trying to figure out like what's going on. And so there's a point where they're kind of arguing with each other, like amongst each other. They're like, you know, doing the sister catty thing where they're just like fighting with each other, and then there's a point where they call Lita like this control freak, like you know, you were never capable of like seeing you know things like how we see them, like it was always about you and what you wanted and how you want to do things. You lied, like all this other stuff, and she's kind of like, you know what? I did lie. I did lie. And she's like, you know what's crazy is that the demon came to me first. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And she basically And then everybody was like, wait, excuse me? Wait, so you knew you fucking know.

SPEAKER_01

You knew this was real. Yeah.

Leda's Confession & Roys Fate

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So she admits that she knew that the demon was real. They've already admitted to lying about like the burning incident. But then she's like, No, I knew it was real. I knew it was real.

SPEAKER_02

Oh my god, that would piss me off.

SPEAKER_01

And she literally says that like it came to her first, and she had basically told it, like, no, like leave me alone. Yes. And so it went to the next. Cleo. Yeah. Pretty much. Wait, it didn't go to Daphne? No. I'm pretty sure it just it it bypassed Daphne altogether, and then it just went straight to Cleo. And Cleo was like young. Lita was kind of like jealous, yeah. Like she was jealous obsessed with her. She was jealous that like the attention went from Lita to Cleo. And so she's like, she's revealing that, like, yeah, I knew it was real. I knew all of this was happening, but like, but fuck you guys, pretty much. So yeah. But she's like, but she's like, yeah, fuck you guys. And then she starts to act like really erratically and weird. Yeah. What is actually happening now? Yeah. And she like gets up and she like walks into the room. Now Lita's getting possessed room. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, like the demon is like possessing them all at the same time.

SPEAKER_01

They're all like, yeah, because they're all like they're all doing weird shit. Being like just hateful towards each other. Yes. They're saying really shitty stuff, like stuff you can't take back. Yeah. Lita's admitting that she knew that the demon was real all of the time. Then Lita's gone. Does she go to like Cleo's room or something? Yeah, she goes into Cleo's room, and this is where Daphne is starting to be like, oh shit, this shit is actually real. Like it's actually happening. Yeah. And like Lita goes in and like slams the door shut. They're trying to get in, and they're like, like, let us in, like, let us in. And like Lita.

SPEAKER_02

Something, if I'm remembering right in the book, like it's like loud. It makes you think like you're in one of those movies, exorcism. You know how everything gets loud and there's like it's so chaotic. Yeah. I feel like it's like a storm is in the house. In her room.

SPEAKER_01

They're like in the kitchen. In the book. And like, yeah, so like they're starting to see, like, they're seeing like the smiley face on the wall, doors are slamming, and like that's she does say, like, oh yeah, Roy's here, but I can't find him. And they're so they're like So they're like, What do you mean Roy's here? At first they're thinking he's the one that's like fucking with them because there's doors are slamming. So Lita and Daphne are like, Well, this is Roy fucking with us, and it's not him. Like, I'm telling you, it's not him. And then and then she's like, Wait a minute, you literally just said yeah, you heard Lita say she knew all of it was true.

SPEAKER_02

She saw it, she saw its eyes and the way it moved and slithered and shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh, and then Lita like Maced Daphne at one point. Like literally like backhands her. Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Daphne's like, what the fuck? Do people really backhand? Like, I've never, when I have hit, I've never like just like I am. No, it's always like him hanging or whatever.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. There's a situation where Cleo gets knocked out by like she got like an elbow to the head by one of her sisters. Cause at this point they're they're like fist fighting each other. Yeah. She comes to and like I'm just gonna read directly. So she says, When I come to, it's on the kitchen floor on my side in a pool of blood. It's to Daphne's voice. But then I heard it. The cruel, so curdling sound of its laughter, and I felt a chill, a brutal cold that I knew was of death itself. The evil was not gone, it would never be gone, but it it could be kept at bay. So she's reading from their mom's book. And then kind of pushing forward.

SPEAKER_02

The laughter is so harsh, it can like make people's ears bleed.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so it's it's a book. So she's kind of like reading from the book, and then Daphne says to Lita,

"GO OFF, QWEEN!" - A Book Excerpt #1

SPEAKER_01

like, tell her. Tell Cleo. And Cleo's like, What? Tell me what? Yeah, she says, Lita knocked you out, we fought, and she confessed to reading the book. And so remember, they had this like pact that they weren't supposed to read the book, right? And so uh Cleo says, What? I'm dizzy. I slap my hands down to steady myself. Apparently, I'm the only one who hasn't read it, who kept my promise. So fuck it. I'm catching up on my reading, Daphne says. You read it? I asked Lita. You two don't understand. I'm the oldest. The pressure on me. I had to know. I had to be aware of what was out there. I had to. The pressure on you, Daphne says, Standing. What pressure? It all falls on me. Do you get how like crushingly exhausting it is to have to navigate all of your bullshit? Everyone's bullshit. What about my bullshit? What if I want to be the asshole for once? What if I want to throw a fucking tantrum?

SPEAKER_02

I feel like you do all the time, Lika.

SPEAKER_01

Well, this is Daphne saying that. Oh, so yeah. Oh, yeah. Daphne's the middle child. Yeah, they always say that the middle child gets forget, like forgotten, they always say. But um there's a point where like Daphne even says, like, I hate looking at you, Cleo. I hate that you're so pretty. And I hate your stupid fucking outfits. I hate that you're spoiled. I hate that everything just works out for you.

SPEAKER_02

She just goes off.

SPEAKER_01

I hate that I hate it. I hate that Lita found someone to love her, but I'm somehow still alone. I hate how badly mom messed me up. I hate that the truth of who she was and what she was doing to us wasn't enough to get us out of this house. That a lie was what saved us from her. I hate that she never changed, never got better, that she fucking drank herself to death and no one's surprised. I hate that I know dad cheated on mom with Amy, and that deep down I've always known it. I hate that dad hates that I'm gay but will never admit it. I hate so much about our family. I hate that I need you all. Yeah. And so like they had kind of like so sad.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and like But it's also like Mm-hmm. Saying what needs to be said. Yeah. So you can start to heal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But then Lita, so this is where Lita starts to like go like be fucking crazy. Yeah. So she says. Uh like Daphne says, you know what, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said those things. I in in this is Lita talking, but you meant them. She gathers her up her hair and pulls it high over her head, like she's holding a noose about to hang herself. Oh my god. You meant every word, it was honest. And if we're going to be honest, fine. I have a healthy, happy relationship. My life is stable, my career is stable. That's why you don't like me. You're jealous. You'll never admit it to yourselves because you think you're too cool to want what I have, but you do, and you'll never have it. You're too dysfunctional. You'll both die alone, likely in debt, and no one will be around to mourn you. And Daphne's like, Jesus. And then so she turns and she's she's going out. To the hallway, and they're like, Where the fuck are you going? You can't just say some shit like that and then like leave. And then uh she's kind of like, Why do you care? And she's like laughing maniacally. I'm the least favorite sister, and she goes, they're kind of like, Okay, bro, like, sorry, and she's like, No one cares about Lita, she's no fun, she doesn't do anything fun. You both have substance abuse issues and self-medicate with drugs and alcohol, and you sleep around, slutted up, but Lita's the issue, the wet blanket. All she ever tries to do is the right thing. You need to chill, dude. What did he say? He said downstairs.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you're not welcome. Don't come up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, color inside the lines, but somehow, no, that's not good enough. Nothing is ever good enough. And so then she says, What if I told you I knew about the demon? What if I told you that sometimes if it couldn't wake you, Clio, it would come into our room at night and watch us sleep. It would go up in the corner and it looked like a shadow. Like only I could see its big white eyes staring out at me from the dark, and it had this long, thin red tongue with a slit like a snake's. What if I told you I pulled the covers up over my head and promised myself that when I pulled them down it wouldn't be there? And I counted one Mississippi, two Mississippi, with Daphne across the room snoring, none the wiser. What if I told you when I pulled the covers down, it was right there at the foot of my bed? I remember what dad told me about bullies. If you ignore them, they'll go away. And so I ignored it and it stopped coming into our room. I was glad it was gone, but I missed it. I missed the attention. I missed how I felt with its eyes on me. I missed how it watched me. I knew we came second to you. I could hear you sometimes talking to it, laughing with it. And yeah, so she literally admits I knew it was there. Yeah. And while she's talking like this, she's like hiding in the house somewhere. Yeah, and they can't try to find her. They can't find her. Yeah. And so they end up going to Cleo's room. Yeah. And that's where like they can hear her in there. And she says, Now I can hear her. I can hear her breathing through the door. I can see her shadow underneath. And they're like trying to open the door. Yeah. Daphne's like, I'm gonna fucking break down the door. Like, I'm getting in here at some point. And Lita erupts into a fit of maniacal giggles. That would send me to the moon. And then like they're trying to break down the door. And it's like there's some parts where it's like kind of funny because it's just like sisters going through like this stupid shit together. In the middle of this like terabyte demonic same time. Yeah. And so then, like, the last line in this chapter, she says, This is Lita, right? And they're trying to break down the door. It's in here with me. It says, come in.

SPEAKER_02

I'd be like, nah, I'm burning the house down here.

SPEAKER_01

You're right, Lita. You are my least favorite sister. Daphne, let's go. I know. Uh, we're setting fire. You want to be attention. Here's your attention. You can you can be here with the demon out. Yeah. And we're by. Yeah. Yeah. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

So this book is so good. Yeah, so it just literally keeps you in like one big stress ball the entire time you're reading it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And I think she was also banging her head against the door, too. Yeah. So she was banging her head against the door. That's what was the level of that. Yeah. And so like they get in there, she's sitting on the door calmly, and she's like, whoa, sorry guys. I don't know what came over me. No fucking psycho. But they end up, their attention gets called up to like the attic again. And then they discover poor Roy. So they push the little door thing aside. Because it's like one of those ones you have to do. Right. Yeah. So they push the thing aside. And then Roy. Like kind of falls out. Like yeah, his head and arm as like hanging out in the bowl. Oh my god. His eyes are gouged out. Yeah, no, no more eyeballs in Roy's head.

SPEAKER_02

No more eyeballs for Roy. Imagine. He probably gouged his own eyes out after he saw it. Yeah. I mean, yeah, maybe. He probably did that. Yeah. I don't think it did that. He did that. Yeah. So.

SPEAKER_01

But he's seen it before. Well, and he's alive. He's still alive. He's still alive. Yeah. They go in, they like start pulling him out, and then they're like, okay, we're calling 911. Like, we have to. So they call 911. Cleo goes up into the attic and she's looking around and then she sees all the shit. Yeah. So there's so I'll read it again.

SPEAKER_02

So she says it's just easier because it's been a while since we finished the book. So normally we wouldn't do this, but you guys already know that. Everybody loves a good excerpt.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, I and it's nice to see like how she wrote it too. So

"GO OFF, QWEEN!" - A Book Excerpt #2

SPEAKER_01

when I get to the crawl space, it's exactly as I pictured it, as mom described it. There's insulation, white like snow, cobwebs hanging from the rafters, dancing in a non-existent breeze. It's dark and freezing, but I can't feel my face. Death is strewn everywhere. Motionless flies, mouse parts, tiny skulls, dried up wads of fur, tails slithering through the insulation. But it's not just carnage. There are photos. Pictures of mom, of me and my sisters, empty bottles of liquor, a jewelry box. It was mom's. I remember admiring it as a kid, seeing it on her dresser. The cups, our cups, the pineapple cup, the strawberry, the apple. And there are copies of the book. I count two. One out of reach, but one just as just at my feet. I pick it up and flip open the cover. For my Daffy, your kind and gentle spirit inspires me. You may be my daughter, but I've always looked up to you. I hope this book finds its way to you, and I hope you can find it in your beautiful heart to forgive me. As she's like, so she realizes that like her mom had also left two other copies of the books to her sisters.

SPEAKER_02

Like with their own.

SPEAKER_01

And then as she's like reading some of the stuff, she says that there's like a sudden creak, there's movement, a bulge, a bending where there shouldn't be, where the angles of the house should meet clean. So the demon's up there and is watching her. Yeah. And it's like kind of telling her, like, hey, come here. Come with me. Come be with me. It's like it's like grabbing her and like kind of slowly pulling her in. And she's kind of like, Okay. But then she like hears her sisters and they're calling for her, and she's like, I can I can't go with you. Like, I have to be here with my sisters. And she's like kind of looking around and she's realizing that it like her mom was giving it gifts and like kind of appeasing it to keep it dormant.

SPEAKER_02

So it would just stay in the attic.

SPEAKER_01

Kind of stay in the attic and just be left.

SPEAKER_02

Don't bug anybody. Yeah. Don't bother. Yeah. Here you have all this stuff to keep you occupied like a toddler.

SPEAKER_01

And it's like it's she's kind of like, I have to go. Yeah. And so there's a point where she's like, okay, you know what? Like, I we have to keep my we need to keep it happy. So she takes her little snake charm necklace that she is kind of became like her staple, like her little piece of jewelry. She takes it off and she kind of offers it to him. At first, he's kind of like, I don't want that. Like, yes, I want like I want you. Like, I you need to come back here with me. Oh, and by the way, it's like licking her this whole time. Like it's like licking her, like, just like snake day with me.

SPEAKER_02

With it's snake time.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. It's also like drinking her tears too, because she's like crying. And it likes sweets and salties. Yeah, and it likes, yeah, and it likes her sad, it likes pain and sadness. It doesn't like like joy and all that stuff. So it's like, oh yes, you're sad when you take one. Yeah, you know. Eventually, it does kind of like it accepts her offering, it accepts her tears and her sadness and her fear, and it lets her crawl down, and then she's able to go out with her sisters. And so she gets outside. And then she's like, Yeah, oh, that's how that works. Yeah, she gets outside, there's cops, ambulance, like the whole neighborhood is out. Yeah, comes out and he sees like she's got a broken nose, she's covered in blood, and he's like, Hey, and she's like, Hey. She's like, So, sorry about what I said, you know, and she's like she literally is being funny about it. She's just kind of making a joke. Because her thing was like banter, you know. Yeah, and he's like, Are you good? And she's like, Yeah, she's like, I'm really sorry about what I said. Like, that was really that was really shitty of me. She said, But hey, I got my karma, yeah, you know, and he was like, Do I even want to know? And she's like, Would you believe me if I told you a demon it is to me? And he's kind of like, Yeah, you know, I think I would. Yeah, she's like, Okay. So her and her sisters come together and they're like, I felt that shit there too. Yeah, he did, yeah. He did admit that like he felt like something.

SPEAKER_02

Really uneasy in the house and believed it was haunted too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. And so yeah, he literally is like, Hey, it's okay, I'll call you. Yeah. Figure your stuff out and call me. You know, we're good. And she's like, Okay, cool.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So her and her sisters like come up to each other and they're like, Hey, what is up, my guy? You know, like, what is up, my guy? So sorry about what happened in there. And they're like, Yeah, so like they kind of they kind of come to terms with like, yeah, dad was an asshole. And like they're like, that sucked. We're good, you know, and they kind of go off into the night, and then we get like a prologue kind of it's like a year later.

The Aftermath & Final Ratings

SPEAKER_01

And we find out that Cleo got this really amazing job in fashion, and she's in the city, right? Yeah, it's in the city, she's in the city now. Um they were able to sell the house. Well, she gave the responsibility up. She was like, Yeah, I'm done. Yeah, I'm done with this house. And so they decided that Daphne was probably the best person to get the house. Oh, that's what it was. Gave the responsibility of getting it up on the market. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so she was like the one that was most unaffected by the demon.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. As far as like childhood and then and then adult. Yeah. And um, yeah, so she they're at like this like party kind of celebrating Clio at her like place of work. Like she kind of put together, I think it was like a collection of different outfits or whatever. Yeah. And at this point, her and Austin are together. They've been together for a year. They're happy with each other, love each other, it's all going good. Uh Lita's pregnant with her and Tommy's first child. Daphne.

SPEAKER_02

So glad Tommy stayed alive.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, thank God. We were like worried about him. I was like, I'm pretty sure he's gonna die. Daphne, I believe, has like a girlfriend. Dad and Amy are there, but like things are kind of awkward. Still the kids.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but particularly Cleo.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but he's like supportive, but he's also kind of like quietly supportive. You know, he says he's proud of her and she's kind of like things, whatever. And so they're out on the patio. Lita and Tommy, I think, have gone home at this point, and her and Daphne are talking. Austin's right next to her. Thanks.

SPEAKER_02

And she Oh, you read this book?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he probably did. Probably read it over your shoulder. Yeah. Sorry. Oh, he's like taking notes. I was like, he's like, oh, what he did was great. But um, so yeah, she they're kind of talking, and uh Daphne says, Hey, the house is sold, you know, and Cleo is kind of like wrestling with whether she's happy about it, yeah. She's like, I mean, on one hand, I'm glad that we're it's over, but on the other hand, she doesn't want to feel guilty. She feels guilty. Yeah. And they're kind of like, Well, do we tell them? And she's kind and Daphne's kind of like, dude, they will figure it out. It's out of our hands.

SPEAKER_02

So fucked up when it comes to houses, isn't that so Yeah?

SPEAKER_01

And I think she said that they were like a young couple that moved in, like a young couple just starting out. It feels wrong, but it's also like they're gonna be a little bit more than fucked up. That's what happens program, yeah, for people with fucking haunted houses. Yeah. I because what do you like honestly? Because they literally did everything they could, like, they tried exercising it, that didn't fucking work several times, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

The demon won't leave because the demon was there on the land in the woods before for centuries before the housing development came along. Like the demon's not going anywhere. The demon belongs to he's he's wedged in there and he's just not coming out. I wedged, yeah. When you like talk about how the roof was supposed to meet, but it's up there, like uh hanging like a fucking I feel serpent.

SPEAKER_01

Daphne and everybody else is like, just leave it alone. Like yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What? I was hurting. I'm sorry you were hurting. Gosh, you've been really negative this entire time. Can you say something positive? Well, like, yeah, well it's be uh otherwise we're not gonna do this again, Eric. Positivity, please.

SPEAKER_01

So I mean that's kinda kind of how it ends, you know. They she's kinda like the last couple lines is her kind of just like wrestling with Am I cool with this? Am I not cool with this? And she's just kind of It is what it is. Yeah. I'm neither Happy. Let me see what the final line is because the final line kind of left it like it felt open. Yeah. So here, yeah. So she says, uh, dude, you have no idea. Like she's uh this is Daphne and Austin, and then they're kind of talking about like he's like, hey, that's great. The weight is off your shoulders. Yeah, about the sale. Dude, you have no idea. Daphne says, It's a couple you said, I ask her. She takes a couple she takes a deep breath. Cleo, we talked about this. Yeah, I know. Not my circus, not my monkeys. She finishes. It's time to let the place go. It's gonna be fine, they're gonna be fine. The house is it's it's over. It's behind us. Sure, I say. Austin reaches for my free hand, and with the other I bring my flute to my lips, tipping it back. There's no more champagne. My glass is empty. Tragic. Daphne clicks her tongue. Alright, I'm going in. I should get back to Daisy. Godspeed, I say, saluting her. It's cold out. Austin says, You want to go in? You want my jacket? I'm good, I say. You can go in. I'm gonna take him in out here to myself. Alright, he says, see you inside. And she says, Yeah, I'll find you. And he said, You sure you're okay? And then she says, I crossed my heart. It just feels kind of weird about it, but she's like, you know, it is it is what it is. So that's that's how it ends.

SPEAKER_02

USA.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we are in the USA. I wouldn't mind like also like a follow-up book, too, from like the new couple's perspective. Like, I think that would be really interesting.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, overall, such like it's such a unique story. I really liked it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Why the demon's still there? Yeah. Does the demon try to find a way to bring the sister like Lita and Cleo and Daphne back in? Does it shift gears to the new couple? Do they have a baby and the baby's brought in, and then the fucking baby gets possessed? And then, yeah, then the prequel would be really nice too. Just all of that wouldn't really necessarily be centered on like the demonic stuff. It's just more like family drama and fuckery.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

But yeah, anyways, all in all, like, I loved it. This book was so good. Yeah. Yeah, I I loved it. How would you read it? I think I'd give it a full moon too, actually. Because I when I'm thinking Gibbis, Room for Improvement. No, I think she did a really good job. Like no complaints. I no, I don't have any either. So yeah, full.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Full moon. There you have it. Full moon, it's a full moon. Full moon. No, I seriously, I loved it. I have no complaints. Uh, the same with her other book that I read. I loved it. I haven't read that one. It was so good. The set sharp teeth. Amazing book. It was the first Rachel Harrison book I've read. Um, I like that she's it seems like from what I could tell from the titles of her other books, she's kind of hitting on everything. So, like, you know, we had like the demon, there's the werewolf one, looks like vampire, witch. Yeah. So I love it. And I love that it's all like female based, like, you know, it's just, I mean, you have like your final girls and you have all that, but it's just like there's something different about like this type of thing with like the final girls and these stories. Yeah. And I also like that they're like extremely relatable.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like these girls are relatable in all these ways, like with their with the drama, with the relationships, with the reality of people's sexuality, different careers, family drama.

SPEAKER_01

Their flaws, I think it's like the big one.

SPEAKER_02

Cause like it is the T.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Oh key.

SPEAKER_01

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

No. Um I don't have a key.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I I think it's really good how she wrote these characters and like they're just they're reverse. Oh, okay. That's not you've said it.

SPEAKER_02

I told you. Yeah. Alright, so we're gonna go bye-bye.

SPEAKER_01

Come on, Eric.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not talking about the devil. Fuck. I mean, we're talking about a diamond.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but yeah, it was fun. I I love that book. I have no complaints. I wish, like, if anything, I wish that I just I want more of the history. Like the lore of the family. Like, and like when I say that, like, I want to know the tea with like the divorce, like all of that.

SPEAKER_02

I want a backstory. You know how they do backstory on like it and how what it is and how it came to be. Yeah, exactly. Like that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah. I think that'd be really good in like seeing like terrorizing people, like can you imagine? That'd be so good. So well.

Updates & CTA

SPEAKER_02

I guess we could go into the code. Any other updates? Yes. Hustle leaves for sure. Hustle leaves, we're almost done with the first segment. Yeah, really hard to read. It's good, and once you get into like a good flow, but you cannot be interrupted with this book. And it takes some devouring because you have to, like, there's different text and different storylines going on simultaneously on the same page. And so, needless to say, we're almost wrapped up with segment one, and then we are probably gonna film that next week sometime.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm definitely hoping for next week.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, there's no like real deadline for that because obviously we were behind from me taking off for the wedding, and so we're getting this out first. We're gonna go ahead and combine um my darling dreadful thing part three and four into one final episode so we can just try to catch back up. And when's the poll over for the June book of the month?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, at this point, probably because it was it's been over 24 hours, so I'm thinking probably tomorrow at two. Oh, which by by now, like by the time this comes out, it'll already be over. Right. But so once that's I will say what looks like it's winning is that ring shout one, the K one.

SPEAKER_02

Oh god.

SPEAKER_01

I mean it's it's Black History Month in June, so I mean that so Oh yeah, yeah, Juneteenth. So I mean that'll be I think COVID. I mean, depending on how like small this book is too, like maybe we could even combine Sloughfoot for next month and ring shout as well, because we're like blowing through Sloughfoot as well. Because I feel like we should also talk about that one too, in addition to Ring Shout. So yeah, so I mean we'll see. I mean it's yeah up in the air right now, but as far as that, like it looks like that's what's winning, so we'll see. But um, yeah, but House of Leaves, it's I wouldn't say it's rough, but it's just like it does take all of your attention.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, and you have to do it. Yeah, it's not an easy read, and it's not like it's such a big and thick and heavy book. You can't just like relax and read, like you have to be.

SPEAKER_01

It's like a textbook, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and so I'm not complaining. I love it, it's a really cool book. It's just and like we said, it's a side project, so yeah, we're taking our time. Yeah, and things are just slowly getting like this is our first episode back. Like we gave a few hours yesterday. It's just like a slow, you know. Yeah, it's the end of the school year. I just got back, and we'll give you what we give you when we give it to you. Because, you know, it's not like we're in like super high demand right now.

SPEAKER_01

So well, I mean, uh again, shouting out to Ben. Ben was like, I think you guys missed that episode. He's like, Did you guys forget to upload? And I was like, What do you mean? He was like, I I'm like invested in play nice, dude. And he was like, Okay. I was like, Well, hell yeah, Ben, thanks. He was like, I just wait a couple more days and we'll get it out to you. But yeah, he's like for you, Ben. He's like, I he's like, and I didn't even want to dive into my darling dreadful because he's like, I wanted to like finish up on play nice, but then he's like, he was talking to me that we had like a family dinner type thing, and he was like, Okay, so like with Rus. Like so he was like, uh these are my theories, and so he was kind of talking about that, and maybe I'll talk about that and then when we do that. Yeah, that'd be so cool.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I love that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but he was like, he's like, No, I like it.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not happy so I can't wait for a community to build and for like people to like be like that, like yeah, we miss you guys, where are you?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you know. So and then yeah, I guess we could also do like an update on my daring my darling dreadful. So if you guys are kind of listening on to that, like hopefully we get this out before No, it was a lot. I mean Anyways, I felt like we did a really good job, like at least until the until the end. But we like episodes out, and then we did like most of play nice. And so it's just it's just hard. And then like we're still figuring out everything too. And it's and we have young kids and they're in school and everybody's sick every other week. And like Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So just bear with us. I mean, we're here for the long haul. It's just like, yeah, there's gonna be until we get to a point where like we're monetized and we can like have somebody help us that's hired with the editing. It's just gonna be this way until it ain't this way. So hopefully we can try to get some guest appearances. I would really love to there's a couple people I'm gonna reach out to. There's yeah, exactly. There's a couple people that we want to reach out to, and maybe we can go on their podcast. Maybe they can come on ours, and then maybe something with another mom who works, or excuse me, that is a part of um one of my daughters does competitive, like elite all-star cheer. And there's a mom who's super cool, they're into all the spooky shit too, but she works at a museum, and I forget exactly what she said, but maybe offering us to go and do an episode at the museum on their haunted history because the museum is supposedly haunted, so that'd be something unique and cool. We're gonna just try to bring you a couple of cool, unique episodes over the course of the summer when we're not going ham during the school year because it's just chaotic. But it will be coming to an end. We got about three weeks left of the kids' school, if even I think yeah, they have like 12 days left.

SPEAKER_01

I think that was calculating.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, so 11 now. Yes, at the end of the day. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. So, anyways,

Goodbyeeeee
